Greetings, Request Network community!

Welcome to the Request Network ecosystem update for February 2025. The Ecosystem Update focuses on protocol usage and our vision to build an ecosystem of decentralized apps for payment requests.

The current ecosystem built around the Request Network protocol includes the following builders: Huma Finance (lending and borrowing), Animal Social Club (donation platform), Joba Network (future-of-work platform), BSOS (supply chain financing), intrXn, Hyprsqrl, Allora and Request Finance (invoicing, payments, and payroll). If you’re interested in what we are building together with the previously mentioned companies and want to share your vision with us, don’t hesitate to apply to our grants program.

Tech update

EasyInvoice

In February, we developed and deployed EasyInvoice, a demo web application built with Next.js for creating and paying requests using the Request Network API. Its functionalities mimic Web2 apps, providing a user-friendly experience with Google login and real-time updates.

For more details, see our EasyInvoice Developer Documentation.

Key Features:

  • Google Login: Securely log in to your account using Google OAuth.

  • Invoice Creation: A simple form to create invoices.

    • Client name and email fields.

    • Items, amounts, and notes fields.

    • Invoice currency and payment currency options, supporting currency conversion via the Request Network API.

  • Currency Conversion: uses on-chain price feeds to calculate the exact payment currency amount based on the invoice currency at the moment of payment so you always receive the correct amount.

  • Dashboard: View key metrics and a table of your invoices.

  • Invoice Payment:

    • View invoice details and initiate payment using transaction calldata provided by the Request Network API.

    • Compatible with 50+ different crypto wallets.

  • Real-time Updates: The app receives notifications via webhook from the Request Network API to update the invoice status in real-time.

  • Direct Payment: Send a payment without having to create a request first.

    • This page will likely be renamed to the “Payout” page.

Request Network API: Payouts and Recurring Invoices

We added Payouts and Recurring Invoices to the Request Network API in February.

  • Payouts: Initiate a payment without having to create a request first

  • Recurring Invoices: Invoices are automatically created based on recurrence settings

    • Platforms are notified of new requests via webhook

Highlights from February

Lit Protocol collaboration

In February, Lit Protocol launched a campaign via Galxe, including a quest to create an encrypted request using Request Invoicing. We have previously announced that we integrated Lit Protocol to power encrypted invoices in January (meaning that payment requests can now be visible only to the payer and the payee), so we’re excited to explore the power of this integration through this nicely designed Galxe challenge.

Some say there’s even a reward for those who complete the challenge 👀 Try it yourself!

Protocol usage in February

The above visual illustrates Request Network transactions (e.g., invoice creation, approval, and/or rejection).

We can attribute the Galxe quest campaign for Lit Protocol to the rather explosive growth in individual transactions in February 2025. We’ve also received transactions from our new ecosystem players, Allora and Hyprsqrl. Looking forward to March!

Note: a batched transaction can contain multiple individual transactions (such as in the case of a company’s payroll process). The token burn occurs once per batch transaction.
