Request Ecosystem Update September 2022
Hey Request community,
Welcome to the Request Network ecosystem update for September 2022.
Request Network Ecosystem Update focuses on protocol usage and our vision to build an ecosystem of decentralized apps for payment requests. Here you will find our ecosystem update, major news and announcements, network usage and community events.
Request Finance is the first successful app/company of the Request Network ecosystem used to generate, track and pay invoices, serving more than +2,300 companies, DAOs, freelancers, and web3 native projects such as The Sandbox, Aave, and The Graph.
For a glance at how integrating with the protocol looks like, check out ‘Request Finance in numbers’, which focuses on reviewing the Request Finance application’s usage metrics, an example being the cumulative value of crypto payments made through the app.
Major News and Announcements
The foundation’s team has applied to hack at ETH Lisbon, which runs from October 28-30, 2022. Anyone interested in creating or contributing to our project during the hackathon is most welcome to reach out to us via Discord.
If you’re new to Request Network, we recommend getting started with our protocol documentation.
Come have fun hacking with the Request team at ETH Lisbon 🇵🇹🚀
Mainnet Subgraph now live on The Graph Decentralized Network
The Request payment mainnet subgraph is now live on TheGraph decentralized network. The Graph is an indexing protocol for querying blockchain data that enables the creation of fully decentralized applications.
This now allows the indexing of Request’s proxy smart-contracts for easy querying of payment data. Previously on mainnet, we were using the Graph’s hosted service (i.e through a centralized API), and we have now moved to use their decentralized network.
For further information on payment subgraphs, please visit our Github.
Request payment subgraphs are also available on Polygon and Celo, using The Graph’s hosted service.
Are you interested in building an open, inclusive and interoperable financial future?
A Full Stack developer role, with a back end focus, has opened up for the protocol. If you’re passionate about blockchain, DeFi and want to be part of a global team that places a high emphasis on diversity and inclusion, this role might be right for you.
Network Usage – September 2022
The above chart illustrates the number of transactions with Request Network smart contracts (i.e creation of invoices, approvals, rejections) and September saw a monthly decrease of 13%, totalling 8,323 transactions. The fluctuation in transactions over the past months is expected with the current bear market, but still encouraging as we have witnessed our ecosystem getting stronger even if growth has faltered. On the other hand, the total number of REQ wallets grew to 41,258.
Also worth mentioning is the amount of adoption that Request Finance is bringing onto the blockchain. The app has registered cumulative payments of $246m, of which $17.8m in crypto invoices were paid last month in September alone (105% increase from previous month)
Check out the app here, if you’re interested in having an all-in-one platform to generate, track and pay crypto invoices.
AMA with Request Team
On 22nd September, the Request team conducted an AMA session with its community on Discord. This session included topics about whether Request Finance should become more decentralized, updates on new features regarding escrow and Crypto2Fiat, Request Network tokenomics v2, and much more.
For those of you who missed out, you find the article containing the full transcript of the session.
