Greetings, Request Network community!

Welcome to the Request Network ecosystem update for March 2025. The Ecosystem Update focuses on protocol usage and our vision to build an ecosystem of decentralized apps for payment requests.

The current ecosystem built around the Request Network protocol includes the following builders: Huma Finance (lending and borrowing), Animal Social Club (donation platform), Joba Network (future-of-work platform), BSOS (supply chain financing), intrXn, Hyprsqrl, Allora and Request Finance (invoicing, payments, and payroll). If you’re interested in what we are building together with the previously mentioned companies and want to share your vision with us, don’t hesitate to apply to our grants program.

Tech update

Crosschain Payments on Staging

In March, we developed Crosschain Payments in Request Network API and EasyInvoice and deployed a preview to our staging environment.

Request Network API - Crosschain Payments on Staging

Crosschain payments allow users to pay a request using a stablecoin from a different blockchain network than the one specified on the request. For example, a payer can pay a request for USDC on Base using USDT from their Polygon wallet.

> **Warning**: Crosschain payments are currently only available in our staging environment at https://api.stage.request.network and are not ready for production use. Use with caution.

Benefits:

  • Flexibility: Payers can pay with their preferred currency.

  • Cost-effective: Automated routing balances cost and speed.

  • Time-saving: Payers don't need to swap or bridge tokens manually.

  • Simplified UX: Payment settlement requires only 1 or 2 signatures from the Payer.

Crosschain payments are supported on the following blockchain networks:

  • Polygon

  • Base

  • Optimism

  • Arbitrum

  • Ethereum

Supported Stablecoins:

> **Warning**:  Crosschain payments work only with mainnet funds (real money). Test networks are not supported.

The following stablecoins are supported for crosschain payments on both the sending and receiving networks.

  • USDC

  • USDT

  • DAI

For more details, see the Crosschain Payments docs

EasyInvoice: Crosschain Payments on Staging

> **Warning**: Crosschain payments are currently only available in our staging environment at https://easyinvoice.stage.request.network and are not ready for production use. Use with caution.

To enable crosschain payments, the request must be created with the following parameters:

  • Payment currency included in the Supported Stablecoins and Supported Networks.

  • Amount greater than 2 - executing crosschain payments under 2 stablecoins is not allowed, even though creating requests has no restrictions on the amount.

Then, when the Payer tries to pay the request, they’ll be presented with the Payment Route selector shown in the following screenshot:

EasyInvoice: Recurring Invoices

In March, we deployed Recurring Invoices in EasyInvoice in Production.

Internal Infrastructure Monitoring Improvements

In March, we improved our internal infrastructure monitoring by adding new alert policies for:

1. Request Network API Error Logs

2. Request Network API Portal Error Logs

3. EasyInvoice Error Logs

4. Virtual Machine Utilization Metrics

Best Pull Request Initiative

We deployed auto-comments workflows to 14 of our public repositories. This workflow prints automated messages that remind the Pull Request author about the Best PR initiative.

Highlights from March

Best PR (pull request) Initiative

We’re excited to launch the Best PR Initiative. The program was announced in Q1 with an open call for new pull requests, leaving previous contributions aside. In Q2, developers can submit their work, and we’ll evaluate those PRs at the end of the quarter. A reward of $500 will be handed out based on the value of each contribution, measured by factors like influence, repair quality, and the amount of work put in. This initiative boosts engagement and fosters meaningful ties between developers and our core team.

Request Network Advocates program

The Request Network Advocates Program is taking off! In March, we communicated that we'll start onboarding passionate community members who create high-value content, host workshops, and spread the word globally. Advocates earn crypto or fiat monthly, receive exclusive perks like early feature access, and help localize content into multiple languages. It's community-driven growth, scaled authentically and cost-effectively, empowering everyone involved. The chosen Advocates will be revealed throughout April.

Hyprsqrl grant

Congratulations to the Hyprsqrl team for scoring a $10,000 grant to advance their powerful vision: AI-driven crypto finance that respects privacy and simplifies business. With the help of the Hyprsqrl platform, invoice management becomes child’s play, creating space (and time) for innovation.

New recruit

Welcome Tristan to the team! With deep expertise in fintech ops and international payments from industry giants like Uber and Grab, Tristan is here to accelerate our journey toward an open financial system. Connect with Tristan on LinkedIn and X.

Community call

We hosted a community call in early March to discuss Q4 2024 results and what 2025 is supposed to look like for Request Network. The call included many updates, answers to the community’s questions, and a surprise token-related announcement. Check out the recording on our YouTube channel.

Protocol usage in March

The above visual illustrates Request Network transactions (e.g., invoice creation, approval, and/or rejection).

March 2025 will go down in Request Network history as a record month, smashing the previous record from October 2024. What fuels this growth? A couple of things: ecosystem builders gaining traction, new protocols using our infrastructure, new features for established builders such as Request Finance, and a quiet but powerful stablecoin revolution (or, at the very least, that’s what we think). We’re well on track to reach 300,000 transactions by the end of the year!

Note: a batched transaction can contain multiple individual transactions (such as in the case of a company’s payroll process). The token burn occurs once per batch transaction.

ABOUT REQUEST NETWORK

The Request Network Foundation’s mission is to re-invent accounting and finance by creating a decentralized network of interoperable apps that promotes transparency and real-time reporting.

We inspire and educate developers, partners, and authorities to use Request Network and build an open-source, seamless, and interoperable financial ecosystem.

We’re building a network that connects businesses worldwide, giving them ways to do business at the speed of the internet.

Be a part of tomorrow’s financial revolution.
