Greetings, Request Network community!
Welcome to the Request Network ecosystem update for June 2025.
The Ecosystem Update highlights Request Network Foundation’s latest progress and showcases API advancements for payments, payment requests (invoicing), and tracking. We’re slightly behind schedule with June’s ecosystem update, but we’ll catch up in August.
Tech update
New APIs for Batch Payments, Fee Customization, and More
The Request Network development team made significant strides in June, releasing the highly anticipated Batch Payment API and a new fee customization feature for builders. At the same time, we've laid the groundwork for our next major feature: Recurring Payments. Here’s a look at the key developments from the past month.
A quick correction from our May Ecosystem Update: Last month's newsletter mentioned that partial payments were supported across all payment types. We must clarify that partial payments are NOT currently supported for crypto-to-fiat transactions. We apologize for any confusion!
Now Live: Batch Payments API for Simplified Invoicing
This feature is designed for anyone who needs to process multiple payments at once, such as payroll, bounties, or supplier invoices. The functionality is fully integrated into the Request API and is also available in our free invoicing tool, EasyInvoice. For full technical details, check out the new Batch Payments documentation.
New Monetization for Builders: The App Builder Fee
We're excited to introduce a powerful new feature that creates new monetization opportunities for builders in our ecosystem: the App Builder Fee.
Developers integrating Request Network into their applications can now programmatically add a service fee to payments. When a payment is made, you can specify a fee address and a percentage. The system automatically adds this fee on top of the original payment amount. The payer covers the total; the fee is sent directly to your specified address. This allows you to seamlessly generate revenue from the payment activity within your app.
What's Next: A Look at Recurring Payments
While shipping the features above, the team has laid the foundation for the next wave of protocol innovation. We've begun designing and building the smart contracts for Recurring Payments, which will unlock use cases like subscriptions and automated payroll.
Look for a more detailed announcement on this exciting development in next month's update!
Highlights from June
Berlin Blockchain Week 2025
As one of the most important crypto hubs in the world, Berlin once again proved itself as a must-attend destination for builders, developers, and founders. The somewhat recently opened w3.hub cowork spot hosted most of the events during the 3-week-long Berlin Blockchain Week (that’s right, time is fluid in Berlin), which helped us immensely by not having to run around the whole city to meet various people.
The highlight of our week in Berlin was definitely the side event we co-hosted with Flare Network. Gnosis co-founder Stefan George and devrel superstar Bianca Buzea joined us as panelists. We’ve set up a corner for live API demos, and we’re now doing it at all events where we’re invited to, as there’s nothing better than a hands-on demo!

Quarterly community call
In June, we hosted the quarterly community call on the Request Network Discord server. During the call, we discussed recently released features, metric reporting updates, current team members, etc.
Strategic Ethereum Reserve
Request Network has officially joined the Strategic ETH Reserve (SER), aligning its Web3 invoicing and payment infrastructure with Ethereum’s treasury narrative. Adding ETH to our balance sheet and submitting our public wallet enhanced our position within the ecosystem and signaled strong confidence in Ethereum’s future. SER was created to encourage organizations to treat ETH as a core strategic asset. Participants hold and often stake Ethereum, providing yield while reinforcing scarcity and ecosystem alignment.

Protocol usage in June

The above visual illustrates Request Network payments (e.g., wallet-to-wallet transfers, with or without a created request) and the monthly approximate volume in USD.
